Phanom Rung... This beautiful Khmer ruin is the largest example of Khmer Architecture in Thailand. Located on top of a dormant volcano, Phanom Rung has been regarded as site of holy Significance since the seventh century. It was built by Suryavarman II in the early twelfth century and was dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. There are many well preserved Lintels showing examples of Shiva.
