Some 10km from the Leelawadee Gardens is Phanom Sawai. Situated in national park land, and located on top of the only mountain in Surin province.
Phanom Sawai was once regarded as a pilgrimage site, and on the first day of the waxing moon many devout buddhists still walk to the temple on top of the mountain to listen to Dhamma, and make merit. On the three peaks there are many statues each depicting an episode from Buddhas life.
As well as the giant white Buddha, there is a replica of Buddhas foot print which is housed and taken care of, in a specially built pagoda on the 2nd peak and is considered sacred and revered by all Buddhists.
The grounds of the monastery are engrossed in a wonderfull tropical enviroment which helps create the radiated, and calm abience of this treasured site.

The Leelawadee Gardens is now a Wi-Fi hot-spot.
